Here are a couple pictures to illustrate why focal length isn't equivalent to magnification. I feel like I had this discussion with some of you before and I didn't have anything to explain it with. Also It's possible I didn't have that discussion, and it was a really boring dream.
Here is the old hanger in my yard fit to the frame at 18mm

Here it is, still fit to the frame at 55 mm.

Pretty neat huh!
And here's the shot I ended up liking the best, but that is unrelated to the lesson.
